The Recession is Bullhonkey Frances Story - When I Grow Up This is part of  The Recession is Bullhonkey series, where I share stories of those who have gotten hired and/or started their own businesses (or sometimes both!) since 2008.  Frances Titus  was (and is!) a woman on a mission, and I just love how she took  her personal, educational and professional experience to create the product she needed herself! I was in New York pursuing a career as an actress, when I got pregnant. Soon after conceiving, due to several nauseous moments on the subway, I moved to Florida to be with my husband and family. To begin again was plain scary. I was on a specific course and now I had no idea where I was going. I was stumped.   The ever-persistent questions of “What job was I going to do?” never escaping my mind. I really wasn’t convinced that I would even be hired with such a random skill set background.   I didn’t think there was anywhere I would be able to fit all that was ‘me’ into. I received a degree in Humanities from a liberal arts school. EVERYONE has asked, “What are you going to do with a degree in Humanities?” Meanwhile pursuing a career in acting. Honestly, I had no idea. I just trusted that it would all work out. There were definitely times of doubt and uncertainty, but I kept moving forward. I wanted an “Aha” moment, something that would make it all make sense.   I had my doubts that that would ever be possible, but when I gave birth to the most wonderful baby girl, she turned my black and white life into Technicolor! My whole life took on a whole new meaning. I was determined to give her the best in life and learned that ‘breast was best’, but I wasn’t producing enough milk. The lactation teas worked to increase my supply but it was a struggle to brew and drink a hot tea five times a day in the Florida heat, with my post-partum hormones going nuts and a little one I couldn’t put down. Little did I know the profound way my background in humanities would serve in the creative development of a company based on traditional herbal remedies. Then like a gift from above, my “Aha” moment…. An herbal remedy in an instant stick pack! I thought all of those years I pursued acting were in vein. However, my training is serving my venture in huge ways. In terms of elocution and speech, staying centered during interviews, memorization when giving my business presentation to a room full of people and in not letting my nerves gets the best of me. I am FINALLY putting all of ‘me,’ all of the random, wonderful, tough and unexpected parts of my journey into Earth’s Love Tea Company. When I first graduated college before New York I had moved to the beach and taught yoga. This cultivated my spiritual and holistic lifestyle.   I was following the path of least resistance. Little did I know then how this would fit into my bigger picture. Were there times I felt like what I was doing wasn’t good enough? At times I had a lot of outside pressure to “use my degree” and “make more money.” But those things were never the important to me. I wanted to follow my bliss, feed my spirit; I wanted to let my journey unfold. I am really glad I did now. We all have periods of doubt, uncertainty and fear. It is the thoughts you choose in the midst of those feelings that determine your fate. Having a bank of resource materials that you can turn to in these times will act as healthy reminders and keep you on course. (I am a vivacious reader and love all things inspirational!) If you are going through a period of time thinking, “there’s no way this can ever happen for me.” Say to yourself “delete-delete.”   Consciously erase it from your mind. Start replacing the thoughts that don’t serve you with simple mantras like, “anything is possible.” Remember being brave isn’t the absence of fear, having faith isn’t the absence of doubt, and being positive isn’t the absence of negative thoughts.   It is being scared, having your doubts and negative thoughts but being brave, having faith and staying positive anyway! I am so grateful and blessed to say that my entire journey is serving me now. I didn’t see the possibility at times but I kept my faith. I have actively become a creator in my life. It really wasn’t until I felt ‘the call’ and ‘my purpose’ in life clearly that I took that role. Until now, I followed my spirit, and in moments of doubt I kept moving forward allowing my path to unfold. I have found my purpose in making Earth’s Love Tea Company, a segue that brings people to holistic and higher living. Meeting whatever need may be, increasing milk supply, easing anxiety, and aiding digestion, just to name a few with a convenient traditional herbal remedy. We’d have all of the answers if we lived life backwards but life is a forward motion. The unknown can be scary but it is also exhilarating. Because anything is possible! Our paths are unique but we are all walking together. No matter where you are on your journey trust that it will all work out in the end for your good and the good of others.   During the early stages of nursing her daughter, Frances Titus experienced a low milk supply.
